Take a Break: The Power of Vacations

Do you really need a vacation?

YES! Absolutely, yes.

Nothing can lead to chronic stress faster than working nonstop and never taking a day off. Pushing yourself through too many hours or days of work can cause your brain and body to push back and revolt.

Taking even one day off can help reset yourself mentally and increase productivity and focus.

Being an entrepreneur is so rewarding, but I know there have been many times when I felt burnt out or on the road to becoming burnt out. When I feel the onset of this, I know it is time to rethink my schedule.

I have had to get over feeling guilty for taking time for myself. I have learned it is not selfish because I come back more energized and refreshed so that I can be the best for the people around me. I often come back with my best ideas when I give my mind a moment to rest and just enjoy the downtime — preferably at the ocean!

Take a Break: the Power of Vacations

Business can wait; time doesn’t stop.

Whether your vacation is a long weekend or a week or more, you will find that it can:

  • Improve your personal relationships when you take quality time with the people that matter most

  • Improve your sleep quality when you relax and not think about work

  • Create more focus and productivity when you return to work

  • Reduce your stress level and decrease your chances of burnout

  • Increase your creativity and innovative thinking when you come back to work and are ready to implement new ideas

You may be busy right now, but have you planned your next vacation? Even if it is not going to be next week, or month, knowing that it is on the calendar can help give you something to look forward to and know there is an end in sight to rest.

So…where are you going next?
