Your Happiness is Your Responsibility

You are responsible for your happiness—only you.

I know it sounds harsh, but the sooner you realize this, the sooner you can shape your world based on your own needs. You’ll no longer need validation at every turn. You won’t blame others for your problems or unhappiness.

However, reaching this level of acceptance isn’t easy. Most of us have a hard time understanding that no one is obligated to make us happy. As soon as we become an adult, our happiness falls solely on us.

Taking charge of your happiness can help you excel in your business. The foundation for success consists of business, balance, and bliss. Each is connected, and without one, the others will ultimately fail.

How to start taking responsibility for your happiness

Schedule some me-time in your calendar:

Sometimes I feel like I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I’m sure you’ve been there once or twice. Most of the time, we are so busy that we forget to take a break, but it’s essential to take some time off every once in a while and invest in spending time with ourselves.

Schedule a time, so you don’t put it off. Mark off a block of time in your calendar. It’s worth it—even if it’s only 30 minutes a week.

Practice journaling and self-reflection:

If you want to be happier, you have to find out what is making you unhappy in the first place. Be honest with yourself—practice self-reflection by writing or journaling. Writing down your thoughts and feelings can help you come to a better understanding of why you are feeling a certain way. It can show patterns in your life that you may not have recognized otherwise.

Do what makes you feel alive:

We tend to cut out the things we enjoy the most when we become stressed or unhappy, but that is a mistake. When you are stressed or unhappy, it becomes essential to take charge of your own happiness. Make sure to keep doing the activities that make you feel alive, like mountain biking, rock climbing, or even something as simple as taking a swim in an ice-cold lake.
