B3 Breaks: Take A Break

Welcome to the show where anything can be possible because when you believe you can, you will. This series is all about getting honest with ourselves and noticing the things that we carry with us. We each have our own life experiences to go from, and sometimes it's hard to truly understand what it's like to be someone else. What we can do to create change is to start with us. If each of us took one action each day in our own lives, we could collectively change the world around us. What does it take? It takes work, practice, and we have to be honest with ourselves as we get there.

To do that, we have these B3 Breaks in order to pause and assess our thoughts before we speak. To take an honest look at the interactions in our day and the energy that we may be creating around us. We ask other people questions and learn their stories and experiences. We create positive energy with the people around us and find peaceful ways to show our support to our friends, our family and acquaintances. We observe all of this without judgment. We are present with the people we are with, and we show up in love. What can we do? We start with the little things. This series is all about short practices that you can put into your day. Practice this each day for 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes or whatever it takes, so that you can observe your energy and be intentional with the energy you create around you. Because if you believe you can, you will. Our episode begins now.

Our B3 Break is all about how to stay focused and productive while working from home. All the research says that there's no such thing as multitasking. Sometimes when we're working from home, we can work and never take a break. What that does is put pressure on our brain and we can't function efficiently. It's important that we build in breaks into our day and be singular-focused. If we get distracted, then it takes us twenty minutes to get back to what we were doing before. If we don't want to waste time while we're working from home, it's important that we figure out ways to reset our minds and re-energize so that we can get as much done as we need to get done in the day.

Take A Break: When we don't disconnect, it's harder for us to connect to what we need to work on and have the right kind of energy when we're working with people around us.

This is how we do it. You can take 10 minutes or 5 minutes per hour. Get up, stand up and get away from the computer. Maybe walk around your house, take a walk outside or whatever you need or you can stay at your computer but maybe move your body a bit. Maybe taking some deep breaths, maybe moving your arms up and down or twisting side to side in the chair. You might listen to music. You might close your eyes and meditate for a few minutes. Just set a timer on your phone, whatever you need to do to unplug.

When we don't disconnect, it's harder for us to connect to what we need to work on and have the right energy when we're working with people around us. What I want you to think about is how can you build these breaks right into your day? Put it into your calendar. A meeting does not have to go an hour. It does not have to go 30 minutes. It can go 25 minutes. It can go 50 minutes instead of an hour. Take that time for yourself so that you can stay focus and get back to what you were doing before so that you can stay as productive as possible while working from home.
